Wood Burning Palm Tree Silhouettes On A Wood Box

This is thesecond part of a hub series I am writing about wood burning palm trees on a box. The pyrographic palm design wraps around the back and the top of the box, but the tree on the front of the box is an unknown tree with small leaves. I wish I knew the name of the tree with the small leaves, but I only have a picture of what it that I used as inspiration for drawing the outline for the pyrography work on the box. If you missed the first hub where I begin wood burning a palm tree on a box, then you can read this segment. In this second segment, I finished wood burning the palm tree that wrapped around the top half of the box, and completed the pyrography work on the tree with the small leaves on the front of the box. I used a pointillism technique for wood burning the small leaves on the tree. This technique varies from the long curving strokes I use to create the leaves of the palm fronds. Please take a look at the photos below to see how I created these pyrographic palm trees on a box. Wood burning is a budget friendly craft, and a creative way to dress up plain wood boxes.

The picture above shows what the box looked like after I finished wood burning the palm tree and the other tree on it.

In the picture above I had completed wood burning the frond of the palm tree on the back of the box.

In this photograph you can see I am now wood burning on the main part of the palm tree.

Here I am continuing to wood burn on the trunk of the palm tree and fronds. I use long sweeping strokes to make the frond leaves. To wood burn the palm trunk on the box, I simply place the universal tip on the trunk, and continue filling it in slowing. This pointillism approach to wood burning tree silhouettes has become my favorite way to do pyrography work.

In this picture I have finished wood burning the palm tree with the three-dimensional effect of wrapping around the back and the top of the box.

I decided to wood burn a tree with small leaves on the front of the box because I thought it would be a nice contrast to the palm tree wood burned on the top and the back of the box. First, I drew the outline sketch for the tree with small leaves, which is the guide for wood burning. I wish I knew the name of the tree with the small leaves, but all I know is that it is a charming little tree I see every day.

I used the pointillism effect to fill in the tree trunk by placing the universal tip on the outline, and creating new marks next to the ones I had already made.

In the photograph above this I am continuing to add small leaves to the tree using the pointillism pyrography technique.

When I completed wood burning the trees on the box, I created a video over on YouTube to document the final product. Creating videos is a very useful way to share your art projects with others.
