Why Do We Want To Know So Much About The Personal Lives Of Celebrities?
70Many people could care less about the personal lives of celebrities, but there are a few who are obsessed with the minute details of every celebrity birth, photo shoot, date, engagement, wedding, and divorce. No wonder so many celebrities decide to keep their private life as private as possible because anything they say or do can be held up for scrutiny for years to come. Not only are the daily activities of celebrities often misinterpreted, but some of the more outlandish tabloid publications frequently go out of their way to stretch the truth to a far out whimsy. I remember in the 1980's reading one of those silly tabloid magazines that stating Boy George got married, but even as a seven year old I knew this magazine was just ridiculous. So why do people care about Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Aniston so much? The magazines and tabloid shows would lead you to believe that Aniston has been a nervous wreck since she broke up with Brad Pitt in 2005, but are we really supposed to believe this? Give her a break and it may be surprising to find out maybe she is happier without Brad Pitt. Also, it seems that Brad and Angelina are a better couple than Brad and Jennifer ever were, so what is the harm in that? Honestly I am just bored with hearing about all the speculation regarding the celebrity canoodling, so I have thought about some more exciting topics for them to cover.
Ants On My Counter
Today I had to wash down my counter because I found some ants. I wonder if the paparazzi would like to come over and film me scrubbing down my counter. I wonder if four years from now they will still be wondering if I was sad about the day I had to spend scrubbing the counter rather than taking a walk outside.
I Had To Pay My Utility Bills Today
Here is another exciting topic for all the tabloid publications: today I had to pay my utility bills. Did I mention I would rather keep the heater off to avoid high utility bills, but my sister insists on turning it on more often than I do? When it gets too hot I simply turn off the thermostat off, and tell her to cover up with blankets if she is cold.
My sister is not happy about this, but at least our gas bill is only about thirty-six dollars a month and our electricity bill is only about twenty-two dollars per month. If I were living alone my utility bills would often be lower, but the added bonus of having a roommate means I can split the rent.
Only problem is our water bill is calculated by how much everyone uses in our building, so that one is more tricky. Are the tabloids going to publish five years from now that I had to pay my water bill today? Probably not.
Maybe I Will Sell My Guitar
Several years ago I thought it would be fun to learn how to play the guitar, but I never got around to it. My guitar sits in a corner and I tried to give it to my nephew, but his grandma bought him one a couple of years ago. Lately I have been thinking about selling my guitar, but I know this would upset my mom because she bought it for me. Oh well, I suppose I cannot sell it after all, but I know the paparazzi will not care about this.
Mundane And Inane
So I have just discussed a few mundane and inane topics from my daily adventures, which should get the paparazzi and celebrity gossip seekers pondering. Why do we really care who Jennifer Aniston is married to? I really wish they would just give her a break and I actually like her, Brad, and Angelina. However, I would only want to watch them in movies and not read about them every day. Every time I open my email I receive celebrity gossip news in the headlines, which makes me wonder if anyone else gets tired of it.

That was fun, SweetiePie, the way you tell your daily stuff -- quite ironic and to the point :-) I'm with you, the interest I have in "celebrities" is pretty much restricted to their movies or concerts or the likes, maybe I do also like to see how they dressed up for the Oscars ... but I could not care less about the way they live their lives. Cool hub!
This just in! McGurk signs a check for the trash pick-up! "She can really sign with a wonderful flourish -- notice it's black ink!" "Black ink? I wonder what that could mean!" "It's a sure indication that she means business!" When we come back after these messages, I'll be talking to Sweetie Pie about her plans to wash dishes later today. . . .
I have the answer for your guitar dilemma - play it :)
Actually some people could care less. I could not, because I don't care at all and can't understand why anyone does. I rarely go to movies and don't even know who the stars are. I don't watch Idol or the Bachelor and don't know who Dances with the Stars.
It's more interesting to know you have ants in your guitar and Teresa pays the trashman by check.
When I was out walking my dog this morning I saw two people. One of them was a teenager walking to the school bus stop. Another was the lady who runs the country store with one gas pump. She was scraping ice off the windshield of her truck so she could drive to work. I wonder if either of them are famous.
{{ I wonder if either of them are famous.}}
They are now :)
I wouldn't say I am obsessed, but I get a little excited if a celebrity has the same Birthday as me or my kids(faith and Zac Efron both have same Birthday, lol) or if the have kids the same age as mine. But that and having certain peoples pictures all over my computer or wall is as far as I go.
I don't like the paparazzi stuff, otherwise I read anything that is interesting about my favourite celebs. Especially, when their lives are inspirational and not misleading!!
I don't watch TV at all, as weird as it may seem. I get news from the web and I don't care AT ALL about celebrities' lives. They are same people as we are, I mean, biologically. They just have some other jobs than we have. For me a celebrity is our local doctor who made a difference in the community.
SweetiePie, I envy your utility bills. I can just dream about these numbers.
Haha, I am your twin in a guitar story. It happened to me too, when I was 20, but I sold the guitar to my neighbor. btw, I don't have any ear for music, at all!
I'm with you, RV - I couldn't care less, either.
I agree with you, SweetiePie, attention towards celebrities is created atrificially by those who wish to draw money by brainwashing weak (young) personalities. And they tend to make them feel smaller too.
Right, LG, we'd better spend this time playing with our kids (who are real celebrities for us:-))
Maybe people like watching celebrities crash and burn because it makes them feel like they can relate. And maybe they like watching them exit public bathrooms and airports because they can see them as real people. Who knows. If I saw Spongebob exit a porno shop on sunset blvd. I have to admit, I'd watch. Funny hub.
LOL..SweetiePie..your chores sound more interesting..than Angelina and Brad fighting over Jennifer and the kids Brad takes to school or wherever...:)
Personally, I think it just provides something for people to talk about. The subconscious thinking goes like this...'gossiping about people you actually know feels a little mean, but gossiping about celebrities? That's perfectly okay.'
I honestly couldn't care less about who Jennifer Aniston is dating right now, or if she's really over Brad Pitt, or whatever.

That's funny, SweetiePie. Your telling of the fascinating and entertaining activities of your daily life reminds me of a time when I was a young teenager and dreamed of becoming a rock and roll star. I imagined that photographers would be following me around, looking for any opportunity to get a peek at my private life. Maybe some famous film producer would even make a movie of my life. And then I cracked up, because there I was, with the most vivid daydream going through my head, while at the same time I was in my jammies, sitting on the sofa, and mindlessly stitching a hem on a full skirt. What an exciting picture that would have been! Thanks for the morning chuckle and for resurrecting an old memory.
