Walking Around The San Bernardino Mountains
69Growing up in the San Bernardino Mountains was a joy for all five of the senses. As a teen I preferred going on hikes in nature over playing video games, and I feel privileged to have spent my formative years in nature. Exercise is good for you health, and admiring nature is healing for the soul. I love to go for walks and just think of how this was all created for our enjoyment. There are so many beautiful places in the world, and I have decided to celebrate the splendor of the San Bernardino Mountains in this photo essay. These pictures were taken in spring, and it is a wonderful time to see the mountains springing back from the winter months. A fire had passed through the desert side of the San Bernardino Mountains back in 2007, but I have noticed new trees sprouting up around the dead trees. Even the dead trees have a purpose in nature, and many birds and squirrels have made their homes inside the hollowed out trees. In the spirit of earth day coming up on April 20th I believe it is important to spend time in nature, and to think about how our good and not so good actions leave an environmental footprint. For instance, going on a nature walk over the weekend results in harmful emissions in the air than a trip to Disneyland. Of course I still love Disneyland and many other theme parks, but seeing my niece and nephew play in nature illustrates how much fun children can have in nature for free. In this economy nature hikes are a great way for the entire family to have fun on a budget. Come on a tour of the San Bernardino Mountains and see nature here in early spring.
How To Get To The San Bernardino Mountains
If you are headed east from the Los Angeles region then take a look at Google Maps to plan your trip. So are you a pedestrian like me? You can even use public transportation to travel between Los Angles and Lake Arrowhead, so driving is not required. Google Maps allows you to plan a trip whether you are driving or taking public transport.
Above is a short video I made of the scenery on my short hike in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Here is another lovely video from my nature walk. Taking videos and photos of nature is just one of my hobbies, and a way for me to document the beauty I see around me.

Nice hub, SP.
Hi Sweetie Pie!
I love this hub since my family has had a cabin in the area for many years. I'll never forget my childhood summers spent there.
Thanks so much for the memories!
You are very lucky to live in such a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome pictures.Great hub.
Sweetiepie. Hi. Wow what a beautiful place the San Bernardino Mountains must have been for you to explore.
Fire does cause incredible devestation, as it did in our Country last year (Black Saturday).
It is sometimes hard to believe how quickly the trees and plants recover, as they seem to do where ever there has been a fire.
All these photos blew me away with their beauty.
To have a holiday in these Mountains would be a wonderful experience.
Thank you so much for sharing this hub. I am going to read it again. :) :)
