The landscape of the San Benrardino Mountains is infinitely beautiful and inviting. A day up in the mountains can consist of looking down on the valley below, or up at the vibrant sky above, especially during sunset. These mountains are a veritable dream for novice and professional photographers alike, and hiking in the great outdoors allows for many opportunities to photograph the scenery, and perhaps even wildlife. I would not go out on a hike by yourself, but if you hike with a group on designated trails you will be pretty safe. Make sure to pick up an adventure pass before parking your car at trail heads in the San Bernardino Mountains, and you can learn more about the passes by contacting rangers stations up in the San Bernardino Mountains. Even if you just rent a house for the weekend there will be plenty of opportunities to walk around and film the scenery since most communities are surrounded by the national forest. The bark beetles and fires have done extensive damage to the surrounding vegetation, but you are still able to behold many awe-inspiring trees during your adventures in and around the San Bernardino Mountains. So do not forget when heading up to the mountains.

End your trip in the Lake Arrowhead, California region, which is where the San Bernardino Mountains are located.
The San Bernardino Mountains and the Lake Arrowhead region are about eighty miles east of Los Angeles, which can be driven in about two hours. Taking public transportation might take several hours more.
In the photos above I had stopped at a turnout on the Rim of the World Highway to capture the view from above. It was quite spectacular to see the clouds floating above the cities below.
