The San Bernardino Mountains is very peaceful during the month December, which just happens to coincide with the winter holidays. Some people might consider the gray clouds and barren oak trees as depressing, but I think it is indicative and expressing the beauty of a late December day before a rain or snow storm. Most days in the San Bernardino Mountains are crystal clear, but there are story days in the winter. Besides, I enjoy both days that with blue skies, and those with the forest growth was much thicker over twenty years ago with pine trees obscuring the view of Hesperia in the distance, but the bark beetle infestation killed many of the pine trees. The forest is re-emerging and more little pine trees and oak are beginning to grow. Forest have cycles of growth, so it is amazing to see one coming to fruition before my eyes. If you ever want to enjoy the beauty of the San Bernardino Mountains on a late December day, you should take advantage of all the deal around the winter holidays and rent a house up in the mountains.
The amazing view of Hesperia with clouds floating aloft. This photograph was captured up in the San Bernardino Mountains looking down the canyon towards Hesperia. It is one of my favorite views.

In the photo above I adore the contrasts between the vibrant blue sky and the verdant shade of the mountains. The gray tones of the dead trees just adds more color and feeling to this image.
In December many of the oak trees are barren since their leaves have fallen off, but some of the pine trees have succumbed to the bark beetle infestation of years past. There was a time that the forest was so thick you could not see down to Hesperia unless you walked father down the street to an area with a clear 180 view of the surrounding area.
