A Day Trip Up To Lake Arrowhead

Updated on August 24, 2016

Lake Arrowhead is the perfect place for a day trip during the blustery winter months. The San Bernardino Mountains are 80 miles east of Los Angeles, California, so this only about a two-hour drive for people who live in the Los Angeles region. Of course, I highly recommend using Google Maps to plan at the exact route from the location you are driving from because you do not want to get lost. It is even possible to take public transportation from Los Angeles to Lake Arrowhead and back, so make sure to use that feature on Google Maps if you are a pedestrian. It does not matter whether you are driving up to Lake Arrowhead or taking the bus, but what I can guarantee is you will have a marvelous time taking pictures of the beautiful scenery when you do manage to come up to this part of the San Bernardino Mountains.

Driving up the Rim of the World Highway can be spectacular during the day, but you can also see beautiful vistas with the sparkling city lights below if you drive up during the night.

Make sure to use Google Earth to plan your drive up to the San Bernardino Mountains, or you can get a ride with friends.  I also highly recommend taking the MARTA bus service if you do not want to drive up and down the mountain because it is very convenient and affordable.

I love making videos of beautiful things in the San Bernardino Mountains where I grew up, and now that I have a video camera I have a penchant for showing the beauty of the city lights as seen on the drive up the mountain.  I hope you enjoy these short YouTube videos I have made of the mountain where I spent so much of my time.

Taking Pictures As I Walk Around The Woods In Lake Arrowhead

As someone who grew up in Lake Arrowhead I enjoy taking beautiful pictures of the woods when I go for walks up there.  Here are a few of my favorite pictures from my most recent trip.

As I take walks through the woods of Lake Arrowhead I randomly snap pictures of things I find fascinating and beautiful, which are images you can also experience if you decide to make a trip the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains.  Many people only think of the lake, but I highly recommend taking a walk in the woods when you come up to the San Bernardino Mountains.
