Pictures of Clouds Over The San Bernardino Valley
73If you ever travel to the San Bernardino Valley, you will discover we often get heavy rain storms that bring amazing cloud formations. I took a walk on the east end of the San Bernardino Valley to photograph the beauty of the cloud formations. Photographing palm trees, eucalyptus trees, power poles with the clouds in the background was quite amazing. Also, I enjoyed looking at the snow on top of the San Bernardino Mountains, which were hard to see because of all of the clouds. Traveling to the San Bernardino Valley is quite easy as it is about eighty miles east of Los Angeles, and you can take the metrolink if driving is not your cup of tea. When you do visit the San Bernardino Valley I highly recommend booking a hotel in the Redlands/Loma Linda area, which is not as developed as the rest of the valley. There is beautiful architecture and natural landscapes you can photograph in this area if you enjoy taking pictures as I do. Also, try to spend a few days up in the San Bernardino Mountains if you want more of a nature experience on your trip to Southern California.
Map of The San Bernardino Valley
San Bernardino - The San Bernardino Valley ranges from Rancho Cucamonga in the west to Yucaipa in the east, with the San Bernardino Mountains creating this valley.
Taking a walk around the San Bernardino Valley is the perfect way to see many of the beautiful vistas and sights. Bring your camera along on your walk, and take pictures of anything that captures your eye. Today I took numerous pictures of the billowy clouds above the San Bernardino Valley, which were quite aesthetically pleasing.
During my early morning walk this morning I was quite awe struck by the beauty of the clouds, which I just had to photograph of course.
During my walk it was hard to see the San Bernardino Mountains because of the thick cloud cover. Nevertheless, I was able to take pictures of the amazing clouds with the snow covered mountains peeking through the gaps.
As I was taking pictures, I also made a few videos of the clouds above the San Bernardino Mountains. This was quite a spectacular view to see below in the San Bernardino Valley.
As I continued my walk, I was headed for a location up on a hill that would allow me to have an unobstructed view of the mountains. The clouds were covering the view of the mountains on my walk the other day even when I did reach the top of the hill, but at least I could see a bit more. However, the pictures I took at the lower elevation had to be edited with photo software to cut out a lot of the clutter. By the way, one thing I love about digital photography is the ability to edit pictures at our luxury. I must say auto-fix is one of my favorite features, and always enhances my photos.
I also enjoy taking pictures of the orange trees up close. There is still a large orange fields here in the San Bernardino Valley, but many of these have been cut down to make way for urbanization. Orange County was named for the great number of orange fields that once occupied that region.
As I continued on my walk, I took many more pictures of grand palm trees, and the stunning clouds in the sky.
I like to capture telephone poles in many of my photographs because these often have interesting shapes
One of my favorite pictures I took on my walk was a closeup of my two favorite little palm trees. There is something quite soothing about looking at a pair of palm trees standing together next to a field, with verdant hills in the distance. So remember to take a walk the next time you are in the San Bernardino Valley, and take your camera along to capture interesting photos.
Taking Pictures On Walks
Walking is a healthy exercise that helps you stay fit, while getting out and about your neighborhood. Combine your love of taking pictures with exercise by taking your camera along with you.

Hi SweetiePie (cute name) lol, When I looked at your map view, you completely confirmed where I was! I'd told people that I was in Fontana BY San Bernardio, and they said there WAS NO "Fontana." Me and my friend met some California guys who toured us around a bit and they got us drinks, and, I'm not really a drinker much, (once in a great while or celebrations) but one too many and I got SICK SICK SICK lol, and asked to get out. The police came by and took us ALL to jail! So I ended up in jail and I didn't even DO ANYTHING :( I was SO SCARED, and just wanted to see more things (like Hollywood things) Well, the girl left and never heard from her again (some friend huh) and like lil' Dorothy in Wizard of Oz, I just kept saying "I want to go home" so men in suits came and had me sign papers to go home. Then my mom showed up with money to get me out, but I'd signed "extradition" papers so they wouldn't let me out! UGh, what a mess! They kept saying I was on drugs, and checking me over for needle marks, it was HORRIBLE. I kept telling them I didn't do drugs, but they insisted, maybe they realized when I didn't have withdrawal symptoms, but finally Michigan came to get me, and while THEY toured, I got to "kinda' tour from the car lol! But they did indeed get me home. But about your clouds, I too love to photograph them! I think clouds are amazing. I still try to make things out of them LOL "a dog" etc. but like yours, THOSE POWER LINES! Oh they so steal such great photos! Now I live in E. NC and luckily in a country area so I can get good shots of them without power lines! :) I love the Orange trees too! I had one Apple tree here, but it didn't survive a hurricane! But the clouds were pretty! lol. Nice hub, I love it, and the proof there is a Fontana!!! :) haha!
Lovely pics. It's been very rainy and gloomy here in sacramento. I miss a clear blue sky. *sigh
I love clouds too... Great sky pics!
Well, thanks, yes, I was very young to be out there with a friend. I'd not do that now! But I did keep telling everyone in Fontana was beautiful! I have a sunset photo and the power lines are right through it, but when I added a deep color effect to it, the power lines appear as part of it! :) Well, thanks you are a sweetiepie lol, because I think I should do a hub on the cloud photos I took, maybe you will like them! :) And I'm on the East coast so very far away! :)
I love cloud formations... the beauty of the clouds in the sky can really make for some great photographs. Thank goodness for digital photography. When I had to print off all photos I would just have boxes and boxes of nature photography. Now I can just store them on my computer or a CD. Thanks for sharing. Maybe I will have to get my camera and go for a walk. Now if only the reain would be done for awhile. It looks pretty nasty out today.
Ha ha - I don't believe it has rained today... and it looks like we are on the way to a nice warm spell coming up here soon. The clouds above us were gray and pretty menacing. Man, I need to kick my motivation in gear and get my camera cranked up! I have been slacking lately! :)
Thank you for these beautiful pictures.
These are beautiful pictures. I love california and the scenery is absolutely beautiful.
Stacy, um.. forgetting your camera? What's wrong with you girl! Superhero's CANNOT go without our camera's, silly! What if you're in a situation that needs capturing! Photograhally speaking of course lol. (hehe I made up a word) Oh, and besides, those contests!!
@SweetiePie: I do almost have my cloud hub done, just a few more tweaks, I hope you come by and view them! We're 3,000 miles apart.. I wonder if we ever see the same ones :)
I just love all of the photographs you take. It's like you pull me out on your walk. Thanks!
Hi SweetiePie! Hey I finally finished my cloud hub! I dedicated it to you! :) Hope you like it, although it doesn't have quite as many as yours! :)
Wonderful photography. Beautiful sky paintings. These cloud formations are similar to what I see from our hill-top street in Cave Junction, Oregon. Thank you for your comments on "What I Know." Peace and Light....Gary.
Hi, I love clouds too! I had to come check out your photos because they looked exactly like some that I have taken here in the San Fernando Valley. If I can find the files I will post them on my hub. :)

What a beautiful hub and another to bookmark in my Armchair Travelling group.
I once had a very small orange tree and only about six mini oranges ever grew on it.
However I was very proud as I took my first bite of this fruit ...... UGH!!!!!!
It was so sour I couldn't believe it and that awful taste stayed in my mouth for a very long time.
The tree whithered away after that and I can't say I was very sorry. Ha ha ha!!
Thanks for sharing this one and bringing that memory back to me.
Take care
Eiddwen.
