Walking around in the San Bernardino Mountains is a wonderful respite from the city. Most people believe you have to drive to get up to Lake Arrowhead and other surrounding mountain communities, but those who like public transportation can take MARTA or arrange a ride with friends. One thing I love to do is walk around the San Bernardino Mountains and take pictures of things that I find amazing. Make sure you purchase a digital camera so you can take a few amazing pictures of the San Bernardino Mountains. Since I do not like to drive I was able to capture many amazing pictures on the drive up and down the Rim of the World Highway. That is just one of the perks of being a pedestrian or letting someone else do the driving for a change.

As I go for walks in the San Bernardino Mountains I am always very inspired to take pictures.  The best thing about the technological advances of the last ten years is being able to take pictures of anything you like without having to worry about how many pictures you have on a roll of film.

As I was walking the other day I captured a picture of the almost half moon in the daytime sky, and I must say that was quite an enjoyable event indeed.

As I walk I keep taking pictures, and of course some are always my favorite ones over others.

Like the structural outline of the dead tree in the photograph looking out towards Hesperia. I prefer living trees over dead ones, but dead trees have interesting shapes to photograph and draw.

I decided to take more pictures facing out towards Mount Baldy and Hesperia because these are two of my favorite locations to photograph when I am up in the San Bernardino Mountains.

When I was about five years old I became entranced with what I called the sparkly "city lights" that I saw down in Hesperia, which reminded me of the sparkles on the evening gown of my Barbie.  All these years later I must say I still enjoy photographing the view looking down on Hepseria, and looking at the "city lights" at now when I am up visiting in the San Bernardino Mountains.

I have always loved the old fashion look of black and white photographs, so I decided to take a few pictures in the San Bernardino Mountains using the sepia function on my camera.

I love taking pictures at the end of the day and near sunset.  The shadows made by the sun near the twilight hour are always the most alluring indeed!

The Rim of the World Highway is one of the most scenic in the world, but you better like like precipices and not suffer from vertigo because the first twenty miles or so of this route wraps around the edge of the San Bernardino Mountains-hence the name of this road.  As a child I once had a nightmare about speeding down the mountain in a convertible, and how the centrifugal force of the wind blew me out of the car and down the side of the mountain.  However, the next day I realized I had this dream because someone who did not live in the mountains talked about their fear of going off the side of the Rim of the World Highway.  I still do not like to drive, but I do not mind taking pictures along this beautiful route is someone else is behind the wheel. Someone I knew who was very kind and sweet actually was killed on the Rim of the World Highway when a truck hit her car, so this windy road is not the safest to drive and travel.  However, as long as I am not driving up and down it I feel okay.
