The Christmas season is all about glittering colors, and you can express your love for all things glitter by designing your own simple glittery Christmas cards. At the store many of the Christmas cards have simple pictures and text, and you can make these yourself with a package of blank cards and some glitter glue. In the photo gallery below I will share the various glitter glue cards I made over the last few days.

The two cards above illustrate how fun and festive simple Christmas glitter cards can be.

Making The Glittery Christmas Cards With Cursive Text

On the first card I wrote Merry Christmas in cursive handwriting.

The first glittery Christmas card I created is a simple card with cursive text.

Next, I folded my card in half, and had the red glitter glue ready to trace over "Merry Christmas".

I purchased the pre-folded the cards, but you can always just fold card stock in half to make your card.

My experiment with using tipped glitter glue has taught me this is not as easy to control when tracing over cursive letters. If you want glittery cursive letters on your card, I would recommend purchasing sparkle gel pens. However, you can stick with the traditional glitter glue, which is cheaper and can be found at the dollar store.

I used the gold glitter glue to finish tracing over the "Christmas" part of the message on the front of the card. After I applied the glitter glue to the card, I allowed it to dry overnight. I noticed it was still a bit tacky the next day, so I suggest allowing amble time for drying if you are going to use glitter glue to decorate your cards. However, if you use the glitter gel pens, then you do not have to wait for your cards to dry overnight.

Making A Glittery Christmas Card With Printed Text

Write the words "Merry Christmas" in printed text on the front of the card. It is easier to trace over printed text with glitter glue, as long as the letters are on the larger side.

Love glitter...and DIY cards can be very special to the recipient. I've received some great ones from my young students and grandkids!

I love to see glitter on Christmas cards and this sounds so much fun, people like to receive personalised cards.

Thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas, best wishes MM

I agree with Movie Master: a card is a lot more special when you've made it yourself. Thanks for showing us how, Sweetie!

SweetiePie, I love your Christmas card design. When my kids were younger, we used to make our own cards and we used a lot of glitter glue!

I really like glitter glue. I like now that you can buy the glue with the glitter in it. As a kid I hated putting down the glue first, pouring on the glitter, and the mess of dumping the glue off the paper. There is less waste of product and money with the glitter glue. Parents do not have to worry about glitter ending up all over the floor, or in your hair. Glitter always ended up in my hair.

Alekhouse,

I think your niece would have some fun with glitter glue, which works for all types of year round projects. Thanks for reading!

Julia, I enjoyed seeing how you created this card. Just yesterday I was thinking how I enjoy getting cards by mail, but it seems every year we get less and less as some friends send greetings online, and I miss this tradition. I am old fashioned so I send out Christmas greetings by snail mail. Very nice job!

Hi VioletSun,

You are right about how a card in the mail around Christmas just cannot be replaced with the electronic version.
