Create Beautiful Mother of Pearl Necklaces

Updated on December 26, 2022

Crafters can make stunning mother of pearl jewelry by placing a pendant made out of this material on a necklace. It is as simple as that, and will only cost a fraction of the pricespspent on a pre-assembled necklace with a mother of pearl pendant. Personally I adore mother of pearl pendants because these sparkle in the sun, and are not pricey like real pearls. Recently I made a necklace with a mother of pearl pendant, which was quite stunning. The mother of pearl pendant has turquoise and silver colors in it, so I choose accent beads that were similar to these hues. The beads I used on my necklace are acrylic, but you can use glass beads if desired. One reason I like acrylic beads is because these are affordable and can be purchased in large quantities. For this necklace I had a pre-assembled beading wire with a magnetic clasp, which makes this an easier necklace to create. All I have to do is twist one end off the magnetic clasp and slip all the beads on to make the necklace. Usually I prefer to make my own necklaces with beading wire and by attaching a clasp with jewelry pliers, but this works fine since I already had the pre-assembled beading wire on hand. Next, I had to create the pattern for my beads, which I did by laying these out on the table first. Some people prefer to design their patterns with a bead board, but I really have never used one. So the supplies you will need for making this necklace consist:

  • pre-assembled beading wire with a magnetic clasp
  • accent beads
  • a mother of pearl pendant

Screw the magnetic clasp back on the necklace, which is now ready to wear around town. Did not use the jewelry pliers for this one, but these had just happened to be there from the previous necklace I had made.
