Find Snow In The San Bernardino Mountains: The Four Seasons In Southern California
69Surprisingly many people living in Southern California have never played in the snow, but there is little excuse with several near by mountain ranges within driving distance. Personally I hate driving in the snow or having to walk to work in it, and being a life long pedestrian I do the latter quite a bit. However, if you do not have anywhere to go looking at the snow can be quite grand, or if someone else is driving it is not all that bad either. If you love to drive in the snow then this will not bother you at all, and you might actually have fun doing it. Pedestrians can take the MARTA bus routes up and down the mountain, or even arrange to travel on a charter bus. Also, if you have friends to drive up and down the mountain you could always carpool. There is no reason to go all the way up to Mammoth to play in the snow when we have beautiful snow falls right here in the Southern California mountains.
Snow In The San Bernardino Mountains
It snowed after Thanksgiving and this week also. I used this as an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the snow, and to try to get beyond the chill factor. I have discovered that by wearing layers I am able to get past being cold, and taking a brisk walk even helps. Here are some of the great images of snow in the mountains, and a few fun videos too.
Waking up to a snow filled morning on the mountain is always interesting. Driving in it is not always pleasant as plowing is far from thorough. My philosophy is many accidents could be avoided with more thorough plowing and by salted the icy mountain roads. It is better to stay at home and admire it rather than having to travel out in these conditions.
Driving Down The Mountain
See all the beautiful scenery as we take a cruise down the Rim of the World Highway on a snowy day.

Lovely pictures SweetiePie! I also love your videos with the pretty music...the mountains look beautiful. :)
Great pics, SweetiePie. I'd love to visit there one day, especially for the skiing as it's purportedly some of the best on the planet! Thanks again!
Thank you for your lovely hub and pitctures. I love snow and can't wait.
We took the lift from Palm Springs up into the mountains. I believe the temperature dropped about twenty degrees during the trip. The mountains were beautiful but since I hate snow I would also go up there in the summer.
btw Excellent pic for your profile.
nothing beats spending "some time" in the snow in the winter time.
sweetie pie I am up for it girlfriend. Very Nice. I would love being on a plane right now headin there. You could be a photo artist. Are You? Merry Christmas my friend. Check my new hub, when you are not flying in the powder. Hugs

Hi SP! I am envious. I love snow, except the downsides that you mentioned. It's nice as a novelty or when you can drive to it and then drive back down the hill away from it (like I can with Tahoe or Bear Valley). Your photos are beautiful. Glad you got to have a snow day -- or a few snow days! Cheers, MM
sweetiepie, it seems rather odd that right at the moment I am sitting here with perspiration running down my brow. (not quite but it is 92 degrees F as I write this and we have a severe fire warning day already).
Your beautiful pictures have put a cooling effect on me and I'm feeling a lot better LOL
The mix of snow and blue sky, rocks and pines...no painting could be more ethereally beautiful! Wow.
Hi SweetiePie,
I really glad to read and watch fabulous pics. Thanks for this lovely and nice article.
I love snow. We just had a big snow here the other day and I was as excited as a school girl. It makes winter so beautiful, when every day is so drab.
Beautiful photos and a picturesque story too! Thanks SweetiePie.
Spectacular.....you must love living there! One day soon, I will share some photo's of the snow we received one year.....you wouldn't like living here at all...thanks for your beautiful hub, take good care,
