Container Gardens With Tomato Plants, Leaf Lettuce Plants, Herbs, And Flowers
78Container gardens are idea for people who have limited space, or who do not want to improve their soil. All you have to do is buy potting soil, containers, the plants, and you are to start gardening. Tomato plants are ideal for containers if you love to eat organic tomatoes in sandwiches and all salads, but hate paying such exorbitant prices for these at the store. A fully grown tomato plant can pay for itself many times over in the amount of fruit it produces, and you may even have some tomatoes you want to freeze for later use. In the middle of winter I always loved taking out a bag of frozen tomatoes from my mother's garden, which have so much more flavor than canned tomatoes. Actually, I love tomatoes so much, that I have a feeling that any of the fruit produced by the plants in my container garden will be long gone before winter.
Growing plants in a container is much easier than growing these in the ground. You can move around the containers to get proper sunlight, especially if you live in a place that tends to get uneven amounts. Simply move the containers to the sunny spot of your backyard through out the day, but of course you have to be home to do so. Mostly I prefer just keeping my container plants in one location, but it is helpful to move these around from time to time if you discover a few plants are getting too much shade.
During week two of the container garden the tomato plants continue to steadily grow. In the picture above you can also see the marigold plants getting ready to bloom in the bright yellow container. In the video below I documented what the tomato plants looked like during the second week of growth.
The tomato plants are amazing to watch as they grow. This picture was taken just around the time I was getting ready to place cages in the containers, which help to stabilize the plants as they continue to get taller.

What a great idea!
SweetiePie, Thanks for sharing this! You have motivated for me to try. You do have a green thumb. Enjoyed looking at the photos and Youtube.
Rated up!
Excellent idea. Strawberries are also a good choice for growing in containers. These year I put mine on suspensions which is amazing as the plants look extremely beautiful and when the fruit comes it just hangs free so it doesn't get dirty and it doesn't require as much work as growing them on ground. The only "problem" (or advantage for some) is that the children keep picking-on and eating the fruit every time they pass near the suspensions LOL so the fruit never sees the table...
SweetiePie, container growing seems to have become the yup and coming way to go. It's a great idea. Loved your pictures.
Hi Sweetiepie, container growing is just ideal for a limited space, and freshly picked tomatoes taste so much better than bought ones, great pictures, rated up.
Very well put together Sweetiepie
